Grubye pogrebal'nye peleny iz raskopok 2022 goda v nekropole Deir-el'-Banat [Course funeral shrouds found at the necropolis of Deir el-Banat in 2022]

The article introduces 102 funeral shrouds found in burials at the necropolis of Deir el-Banat (Fayoum, Egypt) during archaeological excavations of the Centre for Egyptological Studies of the Russian Academy of Science (CES RAS) in 2022. The raw material, threads and decoration are classified according to the scheme proposed by O. V. Orfinskaya. Some of shrouds’ technological characteristics made it possible to specify a weaving method and a kind of loom, on which they had been made. Special attention is paid to objects made of fabrics that are similar to those of shrouds. The chronology of different types of decor has been clarified. The studied coarse funeral shrouds probably had been a local production.
