Tkani v tekhnike broshe vizantiiskogo i ranneislamskogo periodov v Egipte [Fabrics in the broché technique from the Byzantine and Early Islamic period in Egypt]

The article examines key aspects of production and usage of fabrics decorated using the broché technique, characteristic of Egypt in the Byzantine and early Islamic periods. This technique was primarily used for decorating interior textiles, such as curtains, bedspreads, tablecloths, and napkins; it was occasionally used for decorating tunics and shawls. The research focuses on fabric fragments discovered by the expedition of the Centre for Egyptological Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences at the Deir el-Banat necropolis (Faiyum, Egypt). This group of artifacts is introduced into scholarly discourse for the first time.
