Datirovka pogrebeniia № 250 na nekropole Deir-el'-Banat po dannym papirusnykh dokumentov [Dating grave 250 at the necropolis of Deir el-Banat according to papyrus documents]

Cartonnages with Greek papyri of Ptolemaic times have been found at several necropoleis in the Fayyum. Deir el-Banat is one of seven such necropoleis. The study of cartonnages from grave 250 has shown that a group of papyrus petitions addressed to the king Ptolemaios (enteuxeis) had been used for manufacture of decorations for the mummy. Petitions of this type have been found also in cartonnages from other Fayyumic necropoleis. The analysis of dates of papyrus documents from the grave 250 allows us to establish the terminus post quem for the burial — 236 BC.
