"Propoved Varfolomeia": vvedenie, perevod s arabskogo i kommentarii [The Preaching of Bartholomew: Translated from Arabic, with an Introduction and Notes]



The article offers the first translation of the apocryphal Preaching of Bartholomew into Russian. The introduction contains a summary of the contents of the apocryphon and a brief overview of the extant witnesses to its text. The translation is accompanied by a commentary, discussing some of the differences between the Arabic text of the manuscript edited by Agnes Smith Lewis and that of the earliest known manuscript—viz., Mount Sinai, Saint Catherine’s Monastery, ar. 539.
