Chastnye voprosy memfisskoi toponimiki: k ponimaniiu epiteta Khatkhor "vladychitsa sten (steny)" (Pap. Bremner-Rhind 19.24; 20.10) [Particular issues of Memphis toponymy: reconsidering Hathor’s epithet "the mistress of walls (wall)" (Pap. Bremner-Rhind 19.24; 20.10)]

In course of study, the author reveals nature of an epithet of the goddess Hathor “mistress of walls (wall)”, which is mentioned in the Bremner-Rhind papyrus (Pap. Bremner-Rhind 19.24; 20.10). Some Egyptologists believe that the word “walls (wall)” should be understood as a capital of northern Egypt — Memphis. However, J. Bergman expressed an alternative point of view, according to which Hathor patronized cities, buildings, architects and builders. Developing the hypothesis of J. Bergman, the author of the article comes to a conclusion that late appearance of this epithet was associated with political decline of Memphis, when the goddess took over patronage of cult buildings of the temple of Ptah and the capital’s necropolis.
