Izvlechenie vnutrennikh organov pri podgotovke tela k bal'zamirovaniiu (osobennosti drevneegipetskoi mumifikatsii na materialakh grobnitsy TT-23 v Luksore) [Removal of internals in course of preparing the body for mummification (peculiarities of Ancient Egyptian mummification on the basis of materials from TT 23 in Luxor)]

Human mummified remains from the filling of Theban Tomb 23 (TT 23) are dated to various periods from the 18th Dynasty to Roman times. The fragmented material allows studying some peculiarities of Ancient Egyptian mummification that are usually impossible to be traced while working with mummies from museum collections. Investigation was focused on methods of removing internals and cleaning cavities. As a result, variants of preserving the bodies practiced at the Theban necropolis in Late and Graeco-Roman periods were detected. High quality of preparing bodies, regardless of how they had been cleaned before mummification, was also concluded.
