The 'Marriage stela' of Ramesses II from Abu Simbel. Translation and commentary
The article’s author studies the text of The Marriage stela of Ramesses II from Abu Simbel. The monument belongs to a group of stelae that were installed after the dynastic marriage of Ramsses and a Hittite princess had been concluded. The stelae contain description of this important political event.
Texts of these stelae are almost identical, but they are in different state of preservation. Due to the fact that the stela from Abu Simbel is the best preserved one, we took it as a basis for our study. The author proposes his version of translation and transliteration of the text of Ramesses’ II Marriage
stela from Abu Simbel taking into account texts of other Marriage stelae: from Elephantine, Karnak, Amarah West and Aksha. The translation and transliteration are accompanied with a commentary.
